Company Overview

Nutrisan Biotech was founded in 2018 in order to give a worldwide presence to Zhejiang Shengshi Biotechnology Co.,Ltd founded in 1998 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, China. Since then, the factory has been dedicated to the identification, development and production of standardized botanicals extracts and natural active substancesfor the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, flavors, food and beverage and cosmetic industries.

We process more than 4,000 tons of biomass per year at our manufacturing plants in Anji, Zhejiang province, China.The botanical raw materials are subject to strict selections and examination in accordance with GACP (Good Agriculturaland Collection Practices) guidelines. Our productions plants process them utilizing sophisticated both water-based and organic solvents-based extraction methods with eco-friendly technologies.

Our extracts follow worldwide GMP rules (Good manufacturing Practices), International Pharmacopoeias and local regulation in different countries were we are active. All extracts are manufactured according to adopted methods and validated by our internal SOP. These include inspections to guarantee the premium quality standards from a technical, analytical, chemical aspect, our extracts apply our longstanding expertise in fields such as: research and development, laboratory analyses, processes and technologies.

Manufacturing Plants

Our manufacturing plants are located in Anji, Zhejiang Province, China. Anji city is surrounded around 70% of land covered by forest and has 1800 years of history.

More than 4,000 tons of botanical raw materials are extracted in our plants per annum. We use the most modern technologies at each step of manufacturing process, our technologies include the extraction with diverse solvents where later we have evaporation and recovering methods and after, specific drying techniques such as spray drying, vacuum drying and Freeze drying.

We also produce highly concentrated botanical derivatives that require further steps of purification including liquid-liquid extraction, column chromatography and crystallization.

At Nutrisan, we are committed to the continuous improvement of Quality Assurance. Robust QA systems is built into the botanical extract, starting from the cultivation, growing and harvesting of the medicinal plants, all stages of the manufacturing process by adherence to strict GMP, HACCP and extensive testing at every stage of manufacturing.

Given the very complex nature of botanical derivatives, namely extracts of botanical origin, the quality and reproducibility of their composition present a constant challenge to manufacturers. Nutrisan guarantees the quality and consistency of extracts composition throughout dozens of steps process, which deeply touches all stages of production, from the starting raw materials to the final extract powders.

Botanical Sourcing

We perform a strict selection of cultivated and wild harvested botanical raw materials in compliance with guidelines of GACP for starting materials.

Once the selected botanical raw material arrives at our factories it is stored in optimal conditions in our different standard warehouses to preserve the integrity of the active constituents. We test our botanical raw materials exhaustively, in accordance with international regulations and pharmacopoeias encompassing:

Origin makes the difference

The quality of the starting botanical material is the essential prerequisite, as it will affect all the subsequent phases. Hence GMPs are applied from these very early steps to guarantee the quality of our final product. At this stage, here you have the main measures we employ to have it.

Supplier inspection and qualification, according to the guidelines of GACP
Botanical growing areas selection
Control of Harvesting period and method, drying conditions and storage conditions
Botanical identification of the plant and the part of the plant
Quarantine of the biomass under monitored conditions

Only after all these controls, the starting botanical raw material will be released for further processing or rejected due to non-conformance.

Processing: Tight controls prevent Error

The whole production process is in strict adherence to GMPs with well-defined procedures and analysis at critical steps of production.

All raw data are recorded, and every critical procedure and parameter are thoroughly described for workers and double checked in every batch record.

The manufacturing process includes controls on:

Extraction process (Solvents; conditions such as time, temperature, pressure)

Finished product releasing: Check and then check again

Working with 3rd party CNAS labs. Qualified analytical reference standards are used, and all data are summarized in the Certificate of Analysis. We keep all the primary data to be able to trace every batch if needed.

The final stage involves quality assurance/control review including:

Analytical controls (content of active principles, impurities, heavy metals, pesticides, residual solvents and etc.)
